Pnut Recaps Xcel Battle At KOTD’s “Back To Basics”

EXCLUSIVE: “I’m just trying to show-and-prove and show people why I was on the stage and not on a GZ card this time,” Pnut says. “And I think I accomplished that.”

Shortly after his battle against Xcel at King Of The Dot’s “Back To Basics” earlier this month, Pnut spoke with BattleRap.com’s correspondent Rone about a variety of topics including who’s on his battle rap hit list.

First off, Pnut — who previously went by the name of Ayem — spoke briefly about his performance.

“We just finished the battle with Xcel,” Pnut said. “It was a crazy battle, shout-out to Xcel … They hyped it up to be a very good battle, which it was. Xcel was actually somebody I had watched and I was like, ‘Oh shit, I could possibly lose this,’ so I had to actually try and give it 100 percent effort which is something I don’t always do back before, admittingly. I’m just trying to show-and-prove and show people why I was on the stage and not on a GZ card this time and I think I accomplished that.”

Later in the conversation, Pnut revealed some of the names being offered before the match-up with Xcel was confirmed.

“Basically, as long as it makes sense, man,” Pnut says. “With Xcel he had a big following and he had a lot of fans. They said it would be a good battle so I went and checked him out and I agreed with it after watching it. There were names that I was offered prior to Xcel being agreed like Rosenberg [Raw], Lotta Zay, Rum Nitty, [Danny] Myers, they said Cortez, NuBorn and Brixx [Belvedere]. I know people have been trying to talk about me and M. Ciddy for a while.”

Pnut then tossed the question to Rone, where some playful jabs were thrown at one of B2B’s organizers, J-Pro.

“Man, M. Ciddy sounded like a real good name,” Rone said. “Rosenberg Raw would be cool. J-Pro?”

“I tried for ‘Battle Of The Bay 6.’ It didn’t work,” Pnut replied.

“Is he ducking you, bro?” Rone said, to which Pnut replied: “Nah, he works the door.”
