With one of Daylyt’s infamous antics again taking center stage earlier this month, his opponent Real Deal reacted to the stunt and spoke more generally about the Watts emcee’s approach to self-promotion. Speaking with VladTV, Real Deal also addressed the possibility that Daylyt’s recent claims of homosexuality are just another trolling tactic to expose homophobia in the hip hop community.
“I don’t yet know the method to that madness,” Real Deal said when asked about Daylyt’s claims of attraction to music mogul Puff Daddy. “I don’t understand. I see Daylyt on social media, he got a lot of girls that are fans. I don’t understand it. Obviously I don’t think — but I’m thinking maybe there’s some kind of main thing to do it. I don’t fully understand it. [Partly] kind of maybe even fucking with the homophobic-ness of hip hop. I just seen a Pat Stay/Rone battle and the shit was absolutely hilarious. I can say that as a heterosexual male. The shit was insanely funny. Clearly they’re just joking. It’s funny. You read some of the comments, they’re like: ‘These are faggots. Rah rah rah.’ It’s like, ‘Yo, man?’ Maybe Daylyt’s just trying to fuck with those people. I don’t fully understand it, I wouldn’t do it.”
Elsewhere, Real Deal addressed Daylyt’s originality and admitted that his frequent antics have continually gotten him more publicity.
“I don’t love every antic,” Real Deal said. “I don’t understand every antic, but hey man, he’s ascended farther in a short span than any other battler I can think of.
“Daylyt is one of the only original people in battle rapping left,” he added. “I’d say percentage wise, you’re gonna look for Daylyt. I’m not saying that everything he does I’m like, ‘Oh, that’s great.’ Whatever. But he also doesn’t do this shit for me. The thing is, the leagues and these places, they want that from Daylyt. I think a lot of them wanna control it. And you don’t control Daylyt. And that’s the beauty of it.”
