With a battle against Charlie Clips scheduled for this weekend at KOTD’s BOLA 5 event, Daylyt released a video blog yesterday (June 24) warning fans that the “battle doesn’t mean anything to [him].”
During the video, Daylyt says he has “a lot of bigger things on [his] plate,” citing his recent television premiere on Road to Total Slaughter and appearance on Ab-Soul’s These Days… album.
“The old Daylyt, that Daylyt is over with now that I’m at the top,” he said. “I really don’t care about a lot of the old shit that I used to care about. I just don’t care about it no more.
“I really don’t care for none of this Battle Rap stuff,” he added. “I got a lot of bigger things on my plate. TV show’s in the process. I got a show coming up called Welcome To Daylyt’s World which will be going down on Adult Swim. I got a lot of stuff in the works right now and Battle Rap is the last thing I’m worried about right now. Also, big shouts out to Ab-Soul. Ya’ll can go check out that These Days… album today. On the last track, Daylyt versus Ab-Soul, the footage will be coming out soon. So, be on the look-out for that.”
Speaking specifically about his battle against Charlie Clips, Daylyt announced that he won’t be bringing any pre-written material to the event.
“The battle is this weekend so I want to let the fans know in advance, I have no care in the world for this battle,” he said. “I don’t care for winning. I don’t care about the battle. It doesn’t even matter to me. This battle doesn’t mean anything to me. People saying before you can battle Lux you gotta battle Clips. It’s to the point where I’ve already reached one of the goals that I needed to reach which was to make it outside of Battle Rap. At this exact moment, I don’t really care for battling Clips and I don’t really care for beating Clips. Not at all. I don’t really care for battling anybody. Battling is not what I’m worried about right now. I’m letting ya’ll know in advance I haven’t wrote anything and I’m not gonna write anything for this battle. I have plans on freestyling this entire battle. That’s just what I’m gonna do. I’m gonna freestyle and rebuttal. I don’t really care to beat Clips. Lyrically I’m better than Clips and the world knows that.”
“I’ve made it to the level where I’m clearly outside of Battle Rap,” he went on. “I battled Ab-Soul, I got another TDE member coming up in August, which is a big TDE member. This is gonna be a big event for the West Coast. I’m done with battling these regular cats. It’s over with for me. I don’t really care for that type of stuff. My album is in the process, look into my head. Everything is in the works. Big shouts out to Eminem for making that legit. Daylyt is an official member of Shady records. It’s just a lot of stuff.”
